It is so rare to find someone who can really sing with emotion and ability, and Kathy Walker is truly a standout performer.Born in Texas and raised in Louisiana, Kathy grew up listening to great soul singers such as Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, and Al Green. These influences helped her develop her own unique voice and desire to produce music that shuns the current mania for over-production and lukewarm emotion. She has a voice which never fails to impress listeners - powerful, sweet, and dynamic. |

Fueled by the release of their self-titled debut CD, The Kathy Walker Band has been tearing up the regional festival & club circuit, and has caused the northwest music industry sit up and pay attention. She couldn't pull it off without a tight band to give her that rock solid foundation so intrinsic to soul music. Kenny "The Cooler" Coleman's lilting guitar lines and Dave Fleschner's warm, vintage keyboards (Hammond B-3, Wurly, Clav) meet with Rob Schnell's dirty drumming and Tyler Smith's mastery of bass to create a potent, delicious groove. And of course the hi-Voltage Horns add that earnest old-school flavor to the Kathy Walker Band sound. Kyle O'Brien of The Oregonian quips "(The Kathy Walker Band) funks it up enough to make Mom get down and boogie." If Soul music turns you on, and Hi Records and Stax/Volt mean something to you - check out The Kathy Walker Band. Read more about Kathy and the band - click here! Musical
Genre: Soul with a throwback sound, probably best described as "pre-funk
soul."
Points
of Note: The Kathy Walker Band writes and performs music in the idiom

arrangements. Recent
